Holánová, Z. Factors influencing the number of medals won at the Olympic Games. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2023. The thesis includes the identification of factors that influenced the number of medals won at the 2016 Olympic Games. The literature review consists of the development of the Olympic Games. It also deals with the identification of the factors that may influence the number of medals won in the Olympics. Then the thesis in-cludes work with data and the selected quantitative method. The last part of the thesis includes the use of regression analysis and the evaluation of the factors that actually had an impact on the number of medals won at the Olympic Games. The results are commented and compared with the literature.
Influence of Rugby World cup and Summer Olympic Games on the awareness of FTVS students about rugby

Title: Influence of Rugby World Cup and Summer Olympic Games on the awarness of FTVS students about rugby Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is detection, if big sport rugby events had any influence on awareness of rugby for students of Faculty of physical education and sport. Concretely, if the knowledge about Rugby World Cup and rugby tournament at Summer Olympic Games increased. And then, if their knowledge about rugby rules, world rugby, Czech rugby and women's rugby increased. Methods: I used the methods of quantitative research in ma thesis. I created two electronic questionnaire through the web site Vyplnto.cz. One of the questionaire I distributed in 2015 (before the Rugby World Cup) and the second questionnaire I posted in 2016 after the Summer Olympic Games. Results: The results of research demonstrated the impact of the big rugby events. The awareness of students about rugby increased. Their basic knowledge about world rugby and rugby rules increased. The research also showed that researched events didn't have the impact for the knowledge about Czech rugby or women's rugby. Keywords: Rugby World Cup, Summer Olympic Games, rugby, awarness
Freestyle BMX and olympic games

Tittle: Freestyle BMX and Summer Olympic Games Objectives: The main aim of this thesis is the analysis process of Freestyle BMX acceptance to the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics with evalution. In addition, this thesis defines the historical movement of the Freestyle BMX candacy and evaluate the conditions (criteria) setted by the International Olympic Committee for the adoption of new sports into the Olympic Games program. Methods: This thesis is a theoretical work that has a descriptive and analytical character so the main method is an analysis and study of documents, literature and web sources. The information was analyzed and comprehensively processed. Results: Results indicate that Freestyle BMX didn't satisfy all the criteria for acceptance of a new sport into the Olympic Games program. Freestyle BMX should not be accepted according to the criteria set into the Olympic Games program. Freestyle BMX was accepted on the basis of other facts according to this information. Changes in media coverage of the Paralympic and Olympic athletes in the Czech press

The subject of this diploma thesis is to map the media presentation development of handicapped sportsmen in years 1992-2012. The thesis focuses on sportsmen media impression in journals Právo (also Rudé právo) and Sport (also Československý sport). The objective of this analysis is to find out, whether the impression of handicapped sportsmen corresponds with the impression of so-called normal sportsmen. The analytical part includes qualitative comparative analysis of articles about paralympic and olympic athletes at the time of Olympic and Paralympic Games. The thesis also analyse articles, that were published one week before or after the Games. The first chapter describes, how were handicapped sportsmen noted in newspaper in the past. As handicapped sportsmen are showed in media stereotypically, therefore there is a term deconstruction of representation and stereotypization as a part of theory behind this study. The framing analysis has its own chapter. The way, how texts about paralympic and olympic athletes are framed, is important for further analysis. That analysis forms six chapters. Every single chapter focuses on a single year, in which Olympic or Paralympic Games were held. Large sporting events' brand identification

Title: Large sporting events' brand identification Objectives: The main objective of this work is to identify the brand personality of Summer Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup by means of marketing research. Methods: In connection with the primary data collection a method of written and electronic questioning was used. The brand personality identification of the above mentioned brands was performed based on the brand personality measurement method according to Geuens, Weijters and De Wulf (2009). For the obtained data interpretation their statistical analysis was performed. Results: Based on the research results, the brand personality of Summer Olympic Games can be described by the dimensions Responsibility, Activity and Simplicity and by characteristics stable, responsible, active, dynamic and simple. The brand personality of FIFA World Cup can be described only by the dimension Activity and by characteristics active, dynamic and innovative. The media image of the 1956 and 1960 Summer olympic Games in the Czechoslovak press

This diploma thesis named "The media image of the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympic Games in the Czechoslovak contemporary press" follows the media coverage of the XVI. Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 and the XVII. Summer Olympics in Rome in 1960, in selected Czechoslovak periodicals. To establish a media image, the diploma thesis utilises a qualitative content analysis, comparing the transformation of Olympic news reporting in Melbourne and Rome. It focuses on media content and its permeation through the communist ideology. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and methodological part. The theoretical part begins with the historical development of Czechoslovakia after 1948, when the Communists seized power, and then characterizes the "melting period". The thesis also inquires into the development of media in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s with an emphasis on media legislation, including the introduction of selected periodicals: Rudé Právo (Red Law), Svobodné slovo (Free Word) and Československý sport (Czechoslovak Sport). The methodological part maps how the Czechoslovak press informed its readers about the Olympic events in Melbourne and in Rome. Media coverage of the Summer Olympic Games 1948, 1952 and 1956 in the Czechoslovakian press

The diploma thesis analyses the media coverage of the 1948 Summer Olympics in London and 1952 in Helsinki in selected Czechoslovakian media. The qualitative content analysis compares the transformation of Olympic coverage in London with Helsinki, especially from an ideological point of view. The thesis begins with a description of the post-war development of Czechoslovakia between 1945 and 1952, continues with media development in the same period and through the definition of theoretical concepts - communism, capitalism, ideology, ideological square and methodology - reaches the most extensive part dealing with the British and Finnish Games from the view of the Czechoslovakian press. This part of the thesis is further divided into subchapters according to the topics that were most covered by the Czechoslovakian media at the Games. This is followed by a comparison between the London and Helsinki Games, which, based on examples, describes the ideological transformation of coverage and media content of the Czechoslovakian media between 1948 and 1952.
Development of the media image of Emil Zatopek in connection with selected Summer Olympic Games

The master thesis is focusing on media image of Emil Zátopek using the method of qualitative content analysis. Five periods of time, each of them six months long and sixteen years apart, are examined. These periods of time are represented by the years 1952, 1968, 1984, 2000, 2016 in which the Summer Olympic Games were held. As a representative sample of the printed media during the time of communist hegemony in Czechoslovakia Rudé právo, Mladá fronta and Československý sport that has been thematically involved (there has been no analysis for this one during the year 1952 since the first print was published in 1953) were chosen. The printed media after the revolution time are represented by Právo, Mladá fronta Dnes and Sport. The thesis brings the answers to the main research question how the media image of the most successful Czechoslovak runner was developed in the context of political and that time contemporary situation and it also explains the other questions that are focused on the causes of this possible change and the difference between the presentation of mass media during the communist and later also democratic regime.
